About Electronic Pool & Spa Sanitizers: We recommend that every pool or spa have an ionizer which will reduce chemicals 80% to 90%. For pools we recommend model SPDS. For spas use model SSDS, or Instant Ions model IONS-25 and a Copper Test kit model CTK. Our PURITY combination salt chlorine generator and ionizer model P40RI is the best system for complete sanitation of a pool, which only needs to maintain a very low .2 ppm of chlorine. For a spa our PURITY model PSPA is the best system for complete sanitation, which only needs to maintain a very low .2 to .5 ppm of chlorine. What is Ozone?

Ozone is the strongest and fastest commercially available disinfectant and oxidant for water treatment.
Ozone leaves no harmful chlorinated by-products in the water - ozone quickly reverts back to pure oxygen if unused.
Chemical water treatment leaves long-term chemical effects on the environment - some of which are negative. Ozone does not.
You cannot overdose with ozone as unused ozone escapes out of the water and reverts to oxygen.
Ozone disinfect ion qualities are not dependent on pH, nor does the addition of ozone affect the pH of water.
Ozone is the strongest natural algaecide, bactericide, viricide, fungicide, protozoacide and parasiticide known to man, being used for more than 100 years.

What is Corona Discharge?

In nature thunder and lightning's corona discharge of electricity creates ozone when oxygen is split into two separate atoms. Our THUNDER ozone generator duplicates this natural process in it's generating cell. Corona discharge produces ozone more efficiently and at a much higher output. All our pool models have permanent ozone cells, while light tubes cells should to be replaced about once a year.

Mixing of Ozone and Water is Created in the vertical loops of 3/4" ID Tubing Improving the Efficiency of the Ozone Generator. In the loops the water and ozone are always changing direction and the ozone is always trying to reach the upper surface which forces the mixing. Off-Gassing is Greatly Reduced, Reducing the Contact of Ozone with Pool Components.

This kit provides 2 installation methods.
1. An injector loop around the filter. Best for filter pressure above 15 psi
2. An injector loop around the pump. Best for filter pressure below 15 psi or pools with high back pressure from floor cleaning systems, etc.
Includes, injector, two 1 1/2" or 2" PVC tee fittings, 20 feet of 3/4" ID tubing to create 4 to 6 vertical mixing loops, 3/4" ball valve, 6 hose clamps, four 3/4" adapter fittings, and four wire ties. Specify pipe size when ordering.

Worlds Most Energy Efficient Injector System Providing Ozone 24 hours a day.

Mixing of Ozone and Water is Created in the 6 vertical loops of 3/4" ID Tubing Improving the Efficiency of the Ozone Generator. In the loops the water and ozone are always changing direction and the ozone is always trying to reach the upper surface which forces the mixing. Off-Gassing is Greatly Reduced, Reducing the Contact of Ozone with Pool Components. Saves Energy as pump uses only 55 watts of power. The run time of the main pump, which typically uses about 1800 watts, can be reduced by 20 to 40%. That is $8 to $20 a month in energy savings.

Installs after the pool filter. Includes, pump, injector, 2 PVC tee fittings, check valve, 20 feet of 3/4" ID tubing to create 6 loops, 4 hose clamps, and two 3/4" adapters.

Should I keep a bromide reserve in my pool water with a THUNDER ozonator?

Yes, we recommend that a bromide bank be kept in every pool that uses a THUNDER ozonator. If you must have no chemicals in your water, then try using THUNDER without Sodium Bromide. A bromide reserve is created by adding just 3 lb. of sodium bromide (Bromine Salt) to your pool water for every 10,000 gallons. Sodium bromide is a salt and not a bromine sanitizer. This allows the ozonator to activate the bromide ions as they come in contact with ozone, as ozone is an oxidizer and any oxidizer can activate Sodium Bromide. A small bromine residual of .1 to .5 ppm may develop providing more efficient sanitation, and better and clearer water quality. This low level of bromine will not be noticeable or cause any negative problems associated with the use of chemicals. Once or twice a year a little more sodium bromide is added to the pool water to maintain the bromide reserve as water is replaced due to splash out and back washing. Sodium bromide is a salt and stays in the water and can be used over and over again. This is free additional sanitation as it costs nothing extra to produce once the bromide reserve is established. This also provides an easy method of testing the water with low ppm chlorine or bromine test kits.

How are THUNDER and a Mixing Injector System Installed?

They are easily installed to new or existing pools. If using THUNDERSTORM model TMIS or model TMIK with THUNDER one tee fitting is installed before the filter and one tee is installed after the filter creating a bypass loop around the filter. The in-line injector (venturi) is installed in the bypass loop, and the power is wired to the pump timer circuit. If using model T24MIS the two tees are installed after the filter with the check valve between the two tees. The small pump, injector, and tubing are connected in a bypass loop connected to the two tees. Both types of installation do not restrict the water flow. The ozone tubing from THUNDER is connected to the injector included with your injector system. The injector sucks the ozone out of the ozone generator as water passes rapidly through the injector and then ozone is mixed completely with water in the mixing injector system.

Can an ionizer be used with THUNDER?

We highly recommend using one of our Sunshine Ionizers with Thunder for the very best water quality. By using both it is possible to eliminate using chlorine or any other sanitizer. The ozone generator must be a properly sized high output generator and used with our THUNDERSTORM injector system model TMIS, or with model T24MIS, and with an ionizer. With an ionizer and an ozone generator algae problems will be a thing of the past because the ionizer eliminates algae. See our Sunshine Ionizer page for more information on ionizers. If you use ozone without an ionizer you will need to maintain 1 to 3 ppm chlorine level or 2 to 4 ppm Bromine level in the water at all times, but you will use much less chlorine or bromine.

How do I determine what size system will treat my pool?

For most pools we recommend model T5G and an ionizer such as model SPDS. The longer the daily circulating pump run time the better if using model TMIS. At least 8 hours is required. If operated 12 hours or less a day you should use model T24MIS or you will need a larger system such as a model T10G. In humid climates with humidity above 70% use a one size larger unit, or provide air from conditioned air to the ozone generator if located near the house. This is easy to do with just a few feet of vinyl tubing. Large commercial pools should use multiple T10G systems and one of our large commercial ionizers.

What do I need to know about my pool when ordering?

You will need to know if your filter pump is connected to 120 or 240 volts, and if your filtration plumbing is
1 1/2" or 2". THUNDER voltage can not be changed, so you must order the proper voltage. Do not order an indoor model if it needs to be installed outdoors.
