THUNDER Spa Ozone Generator, Circulating Pump, Instant Ions, Copper Test Kit, and Sodium Bromide for Total Sanitation

Installation and Operating Instructions

Model T500TS

The supplied components include:

1.      THUNDER Ozone Generator

2.      Circulating Pump model SCP

3.      Mazzi Injector, 20 ft ¾” ID Tubing, 5 Hose Clamps, and 4 wire ties.

4.      Ozone Jet

5.      Pint Bottle of Instant Ions and a Copper Test Kit.

6.      4 oz Bottle of Sodium Bromide

Preparation

1.      Make sure you can get to the back side of the ozone jet before proceeding.

2.      Drain your spa.

3.      Clean your spa filter.  Do not proceed until you clean the filter.

4.      All glue fittings should be glued with PVC glue and primer.  All barb fittings should have a clamp installed over the fitting.  Slide the clamp about 3” onto the tubing before attaching the hose to any fittings, and then slide the clamp over the fitting using adjustable pliers.  All threaded fittings should be sealed with thread sealant such as 6 wraps of Teflon tape or silicone sealant.

5.      Read these instructions completely before beginning installation.

Tubing Connections

1.      Turn off the power to your spa equipment.

2.      Glue the threaded adaptor fittings to the pump using PVC glue.  The fitting with the smaller hole is connected to the top fitting.  Install sealant to the threads.

3.      Thread the 90-degree barb fitting to one of the pump fittings and the strait barb fitting to the other pump fitting.  Place them where it is easiest to connect the tubing.  Install sealant to the treads.  Do not over tighten the fittings.

4.      Locate the ozone jet and the water tubing line going to it.  It is usually ¾” ID tubing on most spas.   If the tubing is flex PVC or other type of hose you will need the proper adaptor to connect to the pump fitting.  See Drawing below for assistance.

5.      Remove or cut the water line tubing from the ozone jet.  Remove your ozone jet from the spa.

6.      Install the new ozone jet where the ozone jet was just removed.  If the hole is to small file the hole to make it larger, but do not make it to large.  You will need to install one gasket between the ozone jet face and the inside of the spa.  The other gasket is installed between the back of the spa shell and the ozone jet body.

7.      Place the pump on the floor inside the spa cabinet.  Connect the water line that was removed from the ozone jet to the inlet fitting of the pump.

8.      Place the blue injector as high as possible inside the spa cabinet and above the water line if possible.  Measure the length of tubing needed to connect from the top return fitting of the pump to the intake end of the injector and cut the tubing and connect.  The inlet end of the injector is the end closest to the center port.  Note flow arrow on the injector.

9.      Connect one end of the remaining tubing supplied to the outlet port of the injector and the other end to the new ozone jet just installed.  Make at least four loops of about 16” in diameter with the remaining tubing.  Remember to use adjustable pliers to squeeze the clamps and place over all tubing fittings.

10.  Use a few wire ties to support the loops of tubing and injector at the top to a pipe or the cabinet if possible.  Two wire ties can be connected together to make a longer tie by sliding one end of one tie onto another tie just until it catches.

11.  Connect the 3/8” tubing from the ozone generator to the center port of the injector.  Make at least two 12” diameter loops in the 3/8” tubing if possible.

12.  If you are not sure how to install this kit, you should have a spa contractor do it for you.

Electrical

  1. Turn off the power to your spa equipment.
  2. The Ozone Generator and Circulating Pump must be wired to operate 24 hours a day.  They will be either 120 or 240 volt.  Make sure you connect to the proper voltage.   Cut the plug off the cords if you need to.  The black wire is a hot wire; the white wire is the neutral wire or the other hot wire if 240 volts: and the green wire is the ground wire.  The voltage cannot be changed.
  3. Wire the cords into the spa equipment pack to an always-on power source of the proper voltage.  If connected outside the spa cabinet, plug them into a GFCI receptacle at least 5 ft from the spa.   Do NOT connect to the ozone receptacle.  If you are not sure how to connect the AC power, have a licensed electrician do it for you.

Startup

  1. Fill the spa with water.
  2. Turn on power to your spa.
  3. Add the Instant Ions according to the instructions on the bottle.
  4. Add 2 oz of Sodium Bromide.

Operation

  1. Start your main spa pump.  Run the pump for a few minutes until all air is out of the system.  Turn the main spa pump on high speed for 2 minutes.  Make sure there are no leaks to any of the fittings just installed.
  2. Turn all spa pumps off.  The ozone pump should still be running and water and air should be flowing from the ozone jet.
  3. Do not operate ozonator unless air is being injected into the spa.
  4. Test the copper and pH levels weekly with the copper test kit provided.
  5. Add Instant ions as needed to maintain .3 ppm copper.  Maintain pH at 7.2 to 7.6.
  6. Add 2 oz of Sodium Bromide again only after draining and filling the spa every 6 to 12 months.
  7. Add a chlorine shock to your water if your water begins to cloud.  Your water will probably never cloud or need chlorine or bromine if this system is properly operated, and the spa filtration system is operating properly.  Heavy use may require some additional sanitation anytime the water begins to cloud.
  8. Clean the spa filter at least once a month.
  9. Now you will have the worlds best purification system operating 24 hours a day, and you will enjoy the world’s best water quality.
  10. Keep these instructions in a safe place.
