PURITY INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
MODEL P10MRI
Thank you for
purchasing PURITY chlorine generator.
Carefully and completely read these instructions before installing.
1.
Before installing PURITY the pool should be clean, pH balanced,
stabilized (cyanuric acid) at 60 to 80 ppm, free of algae, the filter cleaned,
and then shock the pool with chlorine to 5 ppm. Failure to add the stabilizer will allow the sun to destroy the
chlorine as fast as it is produced and you will not be able to maintain your
chlorine level. Do not proceed until
you have added the proper stabilizer level to your pool. You can purchase chlorine stabilizer
(cyanuric acid) and a test kit at your local pool dealer. Your stabilizer level will only need
increased once or twice a year as it is diluted due to water replacement. If you do not have an ionizer installed on
your pool we highly recommend you purchase one. Purity will not properly sanitize your pool without one.
2.
Turn off the power to the pool equipment.
3.
Mount the PURITY control box with the cords facing down, where it is
convenient to use, where the cell will reach it when placed deep into the pool
water, and where the power supply can be connected to it when plugged into a
GFI outlet. The power supply must be
installed at least 5 feet from the pool, and not outdoors unless a weather
proof outlet cover is installed over the power supply. Mount the controller on a wall or vertical
surface such as a post, fence, or wall.
It is best to install the controller where it is protected from the sun
and weather. To mount the control box,
remove the cover and insert the 4 mounting screws into the slots on the corners
and fasten to the vertical surface.
4.
Place the electrode cell in the pool water near the bottom and fasten
the cord with the strap and screw provided.
5.
Turn the power switch to the off position. Plug the cord from the power supply into the receptacle on the
bottom of the control box.
1.
Turn on the power to the pool equipment.
2.
Turn on the pool filter pump.
3.
Turn the Cell Power switch to the OFF position until the salt is added
and completely dissolved.
4.
Test the salt level with the salt test kit. The older your pool is the less salt you will probably need to
add. On a pool with a salt level below
500 ppm you will need to add about 200 lbs. of salt per 10,000 gals of
water. Use 40 lb. bags of fine grain,
untreated, salt. You can purchase this
salt from your local pool dealer. You
can use rock salt (water softener salt) if you are unable to find fine grain
salt, but it will take longer to dissolve.
Make sure any salt used is at least 99.5% salt with NO additives. Be careful not to add too much salt, because
if you do you will have to remove some of your pool water and add fresh water
to dilute the water. Before adding salt
to the pool, turn on the pump and turn off the PURITY controller and leave it
off until all the salt is dissolved.
Add salt by pouring it directly into the pool, or by pouring it slowly
into the skimmer while the pump is running.
Maintain the salt level at 2,600 ppm to 3,400 ppm. Run the pump for 24 hours to ensure that the
salt is properly dissolved.
5.
Monitor the chlorine level weekly and turn the Cell Power switch to the
OFF position for 1 to 3 days if the chlorine level is to high to maintain the
proper chlorine level. Test the pH
weekly and maintain it at 7.2 to 7.6.
Once every 3 to 6 months check the salt level and stabilizer level. Keep the stabilizer level between 60 and 80
ppm. If algae are ever present in the
pool add a non-copper algaecide and shock the pool with chlorine to 5 to 10 ppm
and maintain 3 ppm of chlorine until all algae are gone.
6.
Add Instant Ions to your water following the instructions on the
bottle. Test the copper level with the
copper test kit provided. Test the
copper level weekly and maintain at .3 ppm.
7.
Once a week change the switch from the ON position to the OFF position
for 10 seconds, and then to the other ON position. This will reverse the polarity to the electrodes keeping them
clean. The control should be kept in the
two on positions equally and switched to the other position and left in that
position all week. Never switch from
one ON position to the other ON position without stopping at the OFF position
for at least 10 seconds. Reversing the
polarity quickly will damage the electrodes and void the warranty.
8.
The electrodes should stay clean, but if the electrodes should clog
with a white calcium build up the cell must be cleaned chemically. To clean the cell, turn off the power to the
PURITY controller. Add 1 part
hydrochloric (muriatic) acid to 5 parts water in a covered container. Remove the electrodes and place the
electrode cell in the solution for about five minutes. Rinse with water when clean. Do not try to clean the electrodes with a
brush or any other object. Reinstall
the cell. If you use a container with a
tight lid you can store the cleaning solution and use it many times.
9.
Now you can relax and enjoy your pool in the nicest, softest, cleanest,
safest water you have ever experienced.
10. Keep these instructions
in a safe place.
Winter Operation
Do not operate
below 40 degrees F or 5 degrees C.
How to Winterize PURITY
Winterize your pool
water and pool equipment. Turn off
power to pool equipment. Unplug the
power supply and store the entire PURITY system indoors.

sure the power supply has power 24 hours every day. Check
salt level and add salt if below 2,600 ppm. Clean
electrodes according to cleaning instructions under OPERATION. Check
electrodes for wear or damage. The
electrodes have a 20,000 hour life and may need replaced if they are old and
failing. Check
voltage to electrodes. It should be
5VDC. If not, either the power supply
has failed or there is a loose connection.
Check the power connector on the control box for a loose connection
and tighten, clean, or replace. Check
Cell Power Switch for proper voltage into and out of switch. |

sure the filter pump run time is at least 8 hours every day. In hot summer months it may require 12
hours or more every day. Check

acid to lower pH. The pH should
